About me
I am Fawaz, a product designer based in Sydney with a Master's in Interaction Design from UTS and a BSc in Computer Systems from Heriot-Watt. That combination shapes how I work. I am as comfortable mapping complex logic in a whiteboard session as I am refining a micro-interaction in Figma. Design and engineering are not separate languages to me.
I have spent the last four years in startups and scaleups, working on products that are compliance-heavy, technically complex, and need to ship fast. That is the kind of environment I am drawn to. I am looking for my next challenge across domains. B2B or B2C, what matters to me is a team that moves with intention, cares about craft, and builds things that actually get used.
How I work
I move fast and I ask for critiques early. I would rather show a rough version and get honest feedback than polish something in isolation for a week. I design for scale from the start, not as an afterthought, which means the engineers I work with rarely have to ask me what I meant. I keep the feedback loop tight and I am always up for a quick review, even on someone else's work.
I have been learning to build with Claude Code and Cursor, partly because I am curious and partly because I think the best designers in the next few years will understand what they are asking AI to do, not just use it as a shortcut.
Outside the screen
I am a nature photographer and filmmaker. I have shot events, worked on short films, and spent more time than I should admit chasing the right light in the wrong weather. Photography taught me that clarity is not about removing everything. It is about knowing what to keep. That shows up in my design work more than anything else I have studied.
